On the main menu there has been a chat room option added.

Simply click on it and a new window will appear. Then enter the name you want to be known as in the chat room, then click login. Then you'll enter the chat system.

If you're using Vista there might be a problem with the Java console, let me know if thats the case because this is a known problem.
