Tommy;

Not sure if you could do it but would it be possible to add a members login to the index / start page on the forum ... it would save me a lot of jumping around to get logged in : ) I never bookmarked the forum login because I always check to see if you have anything new on the start page first.

Thanks in advance for your consideration in this request.

ok, I'll try to explain this as simple as possible :)

No, can't be done. :)

Ok, maybe you deserve a fuller explanation than that. The front page and the forum aren't actually connected in anyway, apart from both being on the same servers. They both have independent databases that control how things work with them both.

They both use MySQL databases, each with over 40 tables in each one, and each on there own is very complicated. There is actually a facility to enable a user to log on to the front page, but that facility is currently 'turned off' as it just makes things a bit more complicated than I want.

The only thing I can suggest is you click the 'remember me' option when you log in to the forum, then the system will automatically log you in every time you enter the system.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but there is no easy way to do it.

Tommy;

So then that means the forum / database and its information is on your own personal server at home ? cool ..

I understand what you mean to log in automatically but I do not have a hightech system with firewalls etc. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing : ) I do not save anything confidential on my system at home. My brother in law had a server in his home and he found people hacking into it. Since then he's changes it alot with many security features.

Thanks for answering my question. Thanks for a great forum ... : )

Peace ToMmY G.

PS: Maybe I'm the expert in laziness .. pretty hard clicking the mouse 2 or 3 extra times .. LOL

you don't have a firewall installed on your computer? Seriously???????

I have to say that is the most dangerous thing to do with the net these days and I would seriously suggest you install one as soon as possible.

Do you have a virus checker installed? Do you check for span/ads?

If you don't there are lots of free ones out there that do an excellent job and should be put on your system as quick as possible. They run in the background and you won't even know they're there.

Let me know if you want more info.

Thanks Tommy for your concern : ) and offer to help.

I use ad-aware to remove junk / ads / cookies etc. I also have Avast anti-virus. Both of these are updated on a daily bases and are free : ) I'am on dialup too so its really slow.

In regards to the firewall, as I had stated I do not keep anything important on my system. My computer is old and the system resources cannot handle running a firewall as well. I do not normally download on my computer thus its been ok.

I laugh cause my son has all the bells and whistles on his system but due to downloading alot of music, programs etc he has had many a virus. I always tell him to quit downloading LOL and say I never have any problems.

I currently use firefox web browser and it has a few security features that are cool ... so I no longer use IE or Netscape Nav. I use outlook but use web based addresses that have virus scanning as well so that helps too.

Thanks for your offer to help Tommy. Maybe when I win the lottery I'll get a fancy puter like my sons LOL

Cheers ToMmY G.
